GRINS THEMATIC AREAS
Leveraging existing databases from the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) and creating new datasets, this research stream aims to improve the measurement and understanding of socially and environmentally sustainable practices in public procurement in Italy, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises and in support of local territories.
Attention will be focused on the supply chains of these markets and how they can contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and water consumption throughout the entire lifecycle of the purchased goods, services, and supplies.
Furthermore, specific supply chains will be analyzed to design rational decarbonization strategies. For example, the research team will develop detailed analyses of the carbon footprint of the plastics supply chain (which accounted for 4.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions in 2022), as well as on investments in forest management and carbon sequestration within the timber product supply chain.
