Monica Billio is Full Professor of Econometrics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her research focuses primarily on financial econometrics, with a particular emphasis on risk measurement and management, the analysis of financial crises, and the stability of the financial system. In recent years, she has also worked on sustainable finance and the ways in which finance can interact with environmental protection and sustainable development. She has coordinated and continues to coordinate numerous research projects funded by, among others, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, the World Bank, and the Italian Ministry of University and Research. She is currently coordinating two European projects dedicated to defining ESG ratings, with special attention to small and medium-sized enterprises, and to providing technical support to market authorities on ESG risks. She is also the national coordinator of two research projects of national interest, focused on big data and sustainable finance. She has served as Director of the Treviso Campus and of the Department of Economics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and is currently Coordinator of the Master’s Degree Program in Economics, Finance and Sustainability.
