The paper investigates the effects of past and ongoing transitions on the built and intangible heritage of Lomellina, one of the so-called “inner areas” in Lombardy region, Italy. The analysis focuses on the heritage linked to rural activities in the territory, which has contributed to the structure and image of Lomellina over time, by identifying and comparing the effects of top-down practices and bottom-up of recognition, care, and management of tangible and intangible heritage.
