This study shows how the concept of accessibility can be used to measure the vulnerability of a mobility system, namely the amount of performance degradation experienced during the shock. Specifically, vulnerability is measured as the percentage variation of an indicator of accessibility before a certain event that hits the system occurs. As the authors show, this measure can be used to simulate the effects of various scenarios of disruptions, which may help administrators and urban planners to identify the most critical arteries and thereby target interventions.
